App Round-Up: The New Apps You May Not Know About

Every week thousands of new apps are added to Apple’s iTunes Store. While the majority of these are games, there’s also hundreds of new educational apps. Which of them should you be paying attention to? Have you missed any that would be good for your classroom? Check out our list of new & notable apps below:


Pocket Universe ($1.99): Pocket Universe, the 3D gravity sandbox game, provides you the ultimate power to explore the infinite space and simulate your own space full of different planets, gas giants, and stars.


Tinycards (Free): Memorize anything while playing a game! Tinycards is a brand new app from the team behind Duolingo, the most downloaded education app in the world.


MiniComputer (Free): The MathBRIX Minicomputer is a fun, evidence-based game that helps children develop math fluency and essential problem solving skills. Supported by the National Science Foundation, MathBRIX makes fun-to-play games that help children "see" math.


Stop, Breathe, & Think Kids: Focus, Calm, & Sleep (Free): From the creators of the award-winning app for adults, Stop Breathe & Think Kids is a mindful games app designed specifically with children ages 5 - 10 in mind. Kids can check in to how they are feeling using fun emojis and try recommended mindful missions tuned to those emotions.


GeoGeek: Flag & Capitals Quiz (Free): GeoGeek: Flags and Capitals Quiz is a fun trivia app that helps you learn all the flags and capitals around the world


Eye to Eye - Empower Different Learners (Free): Discover and share your strengths, challenges, allies, and accommodations through engaging, creative Quests. Create your own My Advocacy Plan (MAP), a tool for you, your child, or your student to use in IEP or 504 Plan meetings to spark conversations about creating the conditions for your most successful learning environment.
